ICC Cricket World Cup Squad Submission |
According to sources, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to provide an additional one-week facility for squad changes to all participating teams in the upcoming mega event. The initial squad submission date is set for August 29, and all teams must announce their squads by that date.
This extra allowance is granted to teams that might face challenges in announcing their squads due to ongoing series or tournaments. After the initial squad announcement, teams will have a one-month window to make changes to their squads without needing approval from the ICC Technical Committee.
It's important to note that the ICC's Support Period will begin a week before the World Cup. During this time, teams can make squad changes freely. However, if any changes are desired after the support period concludes, teams will require approval from the ICC Technical Committee.
The World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 5, with England, the defending champions, facing New Zealand, the runner-ups, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The tournament will feature ten teams competing at ten different venues from October 5 to November 19, with the final also taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The group stage will consist of 45 matches between the ten teams from October 5 to November 12. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, with the first semi-final taking place between the first and fourth-ranked teams at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15, and the second semi-final between the second and third-ranked teams at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on November 16.
The grand finale of the event will see the winners of the semi-finals competing for the title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19.
