New Zealand vs Sri Lanka ODI Series |
The schedule for the upcoming three-game ODI series between New Zealand and Sri Lanka has been confirmed by the New Zealand Cricket governing body. The Sri Lankan cricket board announced that they will travel to New Zealand in March 2023 to play three one-day international matches. The New Zealand vs. Sri Lanka one-day international series in 2023 will start on March 25 at Eden Park in Auckland with the first game. On March 28 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, the second ODI will take place, and on March 31 at Seddon Park in Hamilton, the series will come to an end.
Sri Lanka will play an ODI series in New Zealand after a 2-year hiatus. The last time Sri Lanka played the Black Caps was in 2019, when the Lankans suffered a dismal loss and lost the entire series. Under the direction of Chris Silverwood, Dasun Shanaka, one of the all-rounders on the Lankan team, will captain the group. Kane Williamson, however, will likely serve as the host team's captain. In 42 ODI appearances as of September 2022, Dasun has scored 887 runs with 103 fifty-plus scores while making 42 appearances.
Sri Lanka is currently ranked eighth in the ICC ODI team ranking table due to the players' struggles with their form. New Zealand, on the other hand, is in second place and has a very strong home winning record.
99 One Day Internationals have been played between the two teams, with 41 victories for Sri Lanka and 49 losses. Sri Lanka has participated in 875 ODIs overall as of September 2022, winning 398 of them while losing 434 of them. Sri Lanka played 8 one-day international matches in 2022, winning 5 and losing 3. New Zealand, on the other hand, has played in 788 ODIs, winning 363 of them while losing 378 of them. New Zealand participated in 13 ODIs in 2022, winning 9 of them while losing 4.
So, let's wait and see how Sri Lanka does on the New Zealand bouncy pitches.
